izumi has been a big comfort character for me since january 17th 2017 and when i’m writing this it has been 636 days since then. to be completely honesty when i first got enstars (1.2.17) i first chose my favourite characters based on their appearance, at this point in time izumi and kanata were tied until i began looking deeper into izumis character resulting in him alone being in an undefeatable first place. izumis character is complex to say the least, but in the short time i have been in the enstars fandom he has grown so so much and i am unbelievably proud of him. even if he’s 2D his character development means the absolute world and more to me as at first he wasn’t then best person, i cannot deny this and i will not condone the kidnapping and obsessive behavior but you must realize how much he has improved since then. in runway its apparent that he wants to apologize to makoto for everything he has done and realizes his attitude. i really do hope he gets to apologize to makoto in repayment fes, for his own sake and also makoto's, i think it would be a rather large step forward. i don't really want it to be romantized if that makes sense, i think it'd make more sense for it to be bittersweet rather than all lovey dovey and acting as if everything is completely fine between them. i don't really like izmk whatsoever but i do want them to be able to be actual pals again.
in midsummer dream it gives reasoning behind the kidnapping which is, stress, i do believe he could've handled this better and i do believe he can handle stress better now since the thing causing stress was removed off his shoulders. in midsummer dream ritsu also makes it clear to makoto that makoto isn't izumi's only dear friend and isn't doing anything to improve conditions and it's only making izumi suffer more, i do hope this is brought up in repayment fes despite the low possibility that it will be.
in phantom thieves the motive behind izumi's tedious bullying was revealed, and was angsty like everything else, please let this boy have some happiness and peace ? the reasoning was that he had seen many of his loved ones broken and then not return to their usual selves, so dear izumi thought that if he were to toughen them ( his victims ) up they wouldn't become broken and return to their usual selves. even though bullying is bad i do think his reasoning is good and i hope one day he won't have to think like that.
another thing i am not looking forward to in repayment fes is the discussion i hope he will have with leo, addressing second year and specifically the conversations that were important in checkmate. i hope izumi initiates the talk and listens to leo thoroughly as well as contributing to it rather than the emo "...". i'll add this into this paragraph as well but i hope he allows himself to say i love you to someone other than makoto, it could be in repayment fes, could be in an event in a year or two more, i just want him to say it before the game shuts down once and for all and hes only said the l word to one person.
speaking about the inevitable shut down of enstars i do think i will be very sad as i think it should be clear, i am very invested into izumi and he has clawed his way from hell to the very top of my best boy list. though i will be very sad and probably overdramatic i do think i will get over it in due time unless hapiele doesn't allow izumi to say he's sorry to the people he wants to,then i will never know peace, thanks happy elements ! also another thing i want to address i swear to god if the fujoshis find him i will protect him with my actual life, as well as the people who may write him off as just an obsessive stalker, because i hope we already covered that he is much more than that,.
anyway, moving on from my basically analysis on izumi, he has a good relationship with knights and it makes me undeniably soft. they all realize izumi's tsun personality and pokes fun at it time to time and i just find it so funny, they also protect izumi (as shown in midsummer dream, love u ritsu swetie) i really do love the whole entirety of knights. he also has a weird friendship with yuta, i say weird as yuta was originally a replacement for makoto but then izumi really started to care for yuta as his own person later on. and finally the last friendship i want to touch on is kaoru's with izumi's. izumi shows concern in his own way in bridal scout as well as tags along in that yeehaw gacha. i would talk more about them but my nonexistent braincells are deserting me currently. just know, i really really love izumi please don't call me an invalid izumiP i am begging.
